Highlights of 2024 for TMC Academy

2024 has been a busy year for TMC Academy Singapore.

As the year draws to a close, it is a good opportunity to look back and reflect on the achievements and highlights of the past year. For a busy college like TMC, these highlights are not just academic but include personal interactions and the wider contribution the Academy makes to the community.

TMC Academy is committed to nurturing students’ knowledge, skills, and intellectual values and producing graduates who are ready to contribute to society’s advancement and prosperity. This commitment is evidenced in the range of activities students have been involved in throughout 2024.

Highlights from the Student Community in 2024

TMC Academy has a vibrant international student community on the campus in Singapore and throughout other Asian countries.

In May 2024, TMC Academy celebrated a decade of collaboration with the Foreign Trade University (FTU) Vietnam. This collaboration enables Vietnamese students like Le Nguyet Tu and Thanh Van to study at TMC Academy.

In June, TMC and Him Montreux & Cesar Ritz Colleges Switzerland University of Applied Science Institute extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and commitment to enhancing learning experiences and creating more opportunities for students.

Many Indonesian students also come to study at TMC Academy, where they find the holistic learning environment fosters academic excellence and encourages personal growth.

TMC also has campuses in Uzbekistan, and in October, fourth-year students from Uzbekistan came to Singapore as part of their educational journey. This was an exciting opportunity for these students, allowing them to explore cutting-edge innovations and network with industry professionals from other parts of the world.

The student community is also enhanced by times of celebration, such as when students and staff came together to celebrate the joy of Deepawali and Halloween in October/November. The blending and celebration of traditions build the strength and cohesion of the student community.

Highlights from student involvement in the wider community in 2024

TMC Academy actively supports students in participating and contributing to the wider community.

One way the Academy encourages contribution to the wider community is through the CSR Programme at Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens. Students contribute to and share moments of joy with older people in our community.

One TMC Institute Higher Diploma student, Mr Bakhodir Jalolov, won the 2024 Paris Olympic Gold Medal for Super Heavyweight Boxing. Mr Bakhodir Jalolov has won two Olympic Golds, two World Championship Golds, and four Asian Games/Championships Golds.

When studying at TMC Academy, students are not just focused on their studies. It is part of the College ethos for students to be actively involved in and contribute to the wider community.

Highlights of the growth and development of TMC Academy in 2024

2024 has been a busy year in terms of growth and opportunities for further development of TMC Academy. Some of the highlights of this growth are:

Memorandum of Understanding with Shenyang Urban Construction University

This partnership marks a significant step for TMC Academy in fostering international education and collaboration opportunities.

This strategic alliance represents a shared commitment to creating new pathways for academic excellence, cultural exchange, and innovative learning opportunities. By joining forces, TMC Academy and Shenyang Urban Construction University aim to empower students and educators and foster an environment where global perspectives are embraced and innovative ideas thrive.

New Courses Awarded by the University of Northampton UK

In November, two new courses awarded by the University of Northampton UK were announced. These are:

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Film, Television and Digital Media Production (Top-Up); and

Bachelor of Science (Honours) Software Engineering (Top-Up).

These two new degrees allow students to expand their choices and horizons when studying through TMC Academy.

Invitation to Collaborate for the AI and Digital Economy Conference in 2025

TMC Academy received a special invitation from Tsinghua University in Beijing to discuss the possibility of collaborating around the AI and Digital Economy Conference.

Tsinghua University is known for its cutting-edge research and technological contributions, and the invitation is a testament to TMC’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence and innovation in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

Strengthening ties with Uzbekistan

In June 2024, TMC Academy CEO John Lee and Director of Business Development Prateek Nayak had the privilege of meeting with Uzbekistan Ambassador Alisher Kayumov and Trade and Economic Counsellor Miraskar Magrupov.

This meeting highlighted the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and cooperation in today's interconnected world. This meeting was followed up in August with a groundbreaking ceremony for TMC’s fourth campus to be built in Tashkent.

Campus in Myanmar

In November this year, TMC Academy, together with the British University College (TMC Academy’s subsidiary in Myanmar), celebrated the graduation of over 340 students who were graduating with the University of Sunderland’s BA (Hons) in Business Management, BSc in Computer Science and MBA programs.

TMC Academy's growth and development are a testament to its commitment to building partnerships and connections with like-minded Colleges and Universities that bring innovative academic initiatives and enhanced learning experiences to the region.

Highlights of 2024

While there have been many highlights throughout 2024, two stand out.

In July, the Asia Education Review Magazine awarded TMC Academy the Top 10 Business Schools in Singapore for its extensive academic prowess, calibre to build on the evolutions happening in the educational field, and the life-changing impact the Academy provides to students' careers.

The second highlight is the Graduation Ceremony for students, which was held on 28 November. The Graduation Ceremony is a celebration for students that marks their achievements and success in completing their studies. Graduation Ceremonies are also a reminder of the influence of the Academy. Students graduate, having been influenced and, in many ways, formed by their experiences throughout their study. They carry these influences and the impact of their experiences at TMC into the industry and their choice of careers.

Through its students, TMC Academy continues to impact the wider Singaporean community and the international communities where students come from to study.
