SG61 is Here: How to Celebrate National Day 2026 in Style

August 9th is just around the corner, and the island is gearing up for Singapore's 61st birthday! As we celebrate SG61, the National Day Parade (NDP) 2026 marks a meaningful homecoming by returning to the iconic National Stadium for the first time in 10 years. This year's theme is "Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!", a call to action for the nation to push boundaries, uplift one another, and inspire our shared future.

For our TMC Academy community, whether you are a local student who has grown up watching the parade or an international student experiencing the festivities for the first time, this is an event you won't want to miss. Here is your quick guide to what is happening and how to make the most of it.

A Tech-Forward Celebration

Because the parade is returning to an enclosed arena, traditional elements like the mobile column and Red Lions will step aside for a spectacular, immersive show.

Immersive Tech & Drones: You can expect an incredible visual feast featuring projection mapping on an expansive aerial set. The performance will also feature NDP's first-ever indoor drone show utilizing 300 drones.

Audience Participation: The audience will become a canvas of synchronized light displays thanks to an enhanced LED wristband system. This technology will blur the line between the stage and the spectator stands.

Community Spirit: The Parade & Ceremony segment features the largest civilian participation in over a decade. The parade brings together more than 1,200 participants across 26 civilian contingents.

Key Spots to Catch the Fireworks

While the main show takes place indoors, the spectacular fireworks display will be launched over the Kallang Basin. If you didn't snag a ticket to the stadium, you can still catch the dazzling lights.

Here are a few prime viewing locations to secure early:

Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower: This tower is located directly opposite the National Stadium. It offers elevated, unobstructed views of the Kallang Basin where the fireworks will be launched.

Stadium Riverside Walk: This waterfront path is located just outside the National Stadium. It provides a great vantage point to soak in the atmosphere and watch the fireworks.

Kallang Riverside Park: This spot offers open riverside greenery with more space to spread out a picnic mat, making it ideal for a larger student gathering.

How to Best Enjoy the Festivities

Gather Your TMC Squad: National Day is best enjoyed with friends. Organize a picnic or a dinner gathering with your classmates before heading out to a viewing spot to soak in the vibrant city atmosphere.

Dress the Part: Don your best red and white outfit to show your festive spirit and make for great group photos!
