The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme is designed to meet the needs of existing and potential senior managers in all sectors of employment and is suitable for those who may be expected to make a significant contribution to managing at a strategic level in their organisation. The programme aims to equip course participants with the knowledge, skills and competencies to manage effectively in modern, complex and increasingly dynamic business environments, making use of the examination and applying of modern management concepts and techniques.

Educational Objectives and Outcomes


The learning outcomes are:


A. Knowledge and Understanding
- systematically collect and critically analyse information and synthesise it into
appropriate form in order to evaluate situations and alternate courses of action
- understand and apply accurately techniques to evaluate organizational
performance, identify problems and formulate potential improvement strategies
- demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the contributions made by different
disciplines to the achievement of organizational goals and the conduct of
management tasks and projects
- demonstrate empathy and understanding of cultural issues and differing managerial
practices when dealing with business decisions set in the context of the
international environment

B. Subject specific/practical skills
- Select appropriate leadership styles for managing situations of varying complexity
that arise in a variety of organizational contexts
- Set organizational/project targets, motivate personnel, monitor performance, coach
and mentor, in order to achieve organization goals, quality enhancement and
continuous improvements
- Understand the contrasting forces of ethical, societal and organizational values to
situations and choices when involved in complex decision making in unpredictable
contexts
- Carry out detailed and critical analysis of management situations and problems,
leading to recommend action plans

C. Key skills

- Examine, organize and present data from a variety of sources and identify relative
meaning and significance
- Employ competence levels of information technology and communication skills, and
the ability to make effective use of IT software tools that are commonly used in
organisations by management
- Communicate efficiently and effectively, in oral, written and verbal form
- Possess self-awareness and self-organisational skills, together with sensitivity to
others’ needs
- Perform effectively in the leadership and management of teams within the
organizational context
- Become a reflective practitioner and learn through experience

Academic Requirements

  • MBA Executive: normally be expected to hold a First or Second class honours degree of a British University or equivalent AND must have a minimum of 2 years relevant management experience.


English Proficiency

If English is not your first language, you will be required to have any of the following or equivalent:

  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

  • IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL (Paper) ≥ 547 or TOEFL (Computer) ≥ 210 or TOEFL (Internet) ≥ 78 or TOEIC ≥ 780

  • Other qualifications equivalent to High School or Year 12 where the medium of instruction is English

  • Attend and pass Certificate in English up to Upper Intermediate B level

  • Attend and pass EAP Level with final score >60%

 

Mature Candidates
Mature Candidates of ≥30 years old with 8 years of work experience may be admitted in lieu of academic qualification
