Preparatory Course for Associate Financial Planner Examination

Psychology Appointment

The Higher Diploma in Psychology with Counselling programme provides students with comprehensive theoretical background and research skills relevant to studying mental processes and human behaviour.

 

The programme covers a broad range of empirical and practical areas, including the opportunity to develop basic counselling skills. Students are able to apply to the Singapore Psychological Society for individual membership on graduation from this course.

Upon completion of this programme, students may apply for further studies at overseas universities.*

Course Assessment

Examinations, assignments, projects, presentations, class tests, and/or practical tests.

Academic Qualification
Any of the following or equivalent:

  • Obtained at least an E at GCE A level in any 2 subjects

  • TMC Diploma/Foundation Diploma

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (at least 24 points)

  • NUS High School Diploma

  • Polytechnic Diploma

  • Diploma (in Accounting/Business/Management/IT/Computing/Hospitality/ Psychology) from Private Education Institutions (assessed on a case by case basis)

 

English Proficiency
Any of the following or equivalent:

  • At least a C6 at GCE O level English

  • Completed a Diploma or equivalent where medium of instruction is English

  • Pass an English online test and an interview with the Dean/HOD/designate

Mature Candidates
Mature Candidates of ≥30 years old with 8 years of work experience may be admitted in lieu of academic qualification

  • Attend and pass Certificate in English up to Upper Intermediate B level

  • Attend and pass EAP Level with final score >60%

1) SkillsFuture Credits (SFC)

Opening SkillsFuture Credit of $500

SkillsFuture Credit aims to encourage individuals to take ownership of their skills development and lifelong learning.  Introduced in 2015, all Singaporeans aged 25 and above will receive an opening credit of S$500.


One-Off SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up

To further encourage Singaporeans to take timely action to reskill and upskill to seize opportunities in the future economy, a one-off SkillsFuture Credit top-up of $500 will be provided to every Singapore Citizen aged 25 years and above as at 31 December 2020.From 1 October 2020, this top-up can be used on all SkillsFuture Credit-eligible courses, and will expire on 31 Dec 2025.


Additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Support)

To improve individuals’ access to career transition programmes, a one-off SkillsFuture Credit of $500 will be provided to every Singapore Citizen (SC) aged 40 to 60 (inclusive) as at 31 December 2020. This will be over and above the $500 SkillsFuture Credit top-up for SCs aged 25 and above as at 31 December 2020.

*Modules 1, 4 and 5 are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit (SFC)


2) IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS)

The IBF Standards Training Scheme (“IBF-STS”) provides funding for training and assessment programmes accredited under the Skills Framework for Financial Services.


Enhanced support for FIs and Individuals

In light of the economic challenges arising from COVID-19, MAS announced support of up to S$90 million, to encourage financial institutions and individuals to make use of the downtime for training and deepening of skills.

These include:


(1) Enhancements of course fee subsidies for IBF-STS accredited courses

AND

(2) Training Allowance Grant for locals who participate in IBF-STS accredited courses
