EnglishThe Certificate in General English and English for Academic Purposes programme (EAP) equips students with the necessary general English Language skills to enable them to participate pro-actively in English-speaking environments. Students at a higher level will learn Academic English to pursue higher education.
Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to read, speak and write confidently in the English language in general and academic related applications.
Lessons are delivered in an engaging environment that comprise both classroom and outdoor activities.
Level 1-2
Level 1 and 2 focuses on General English (GE), which helps students:
- Recognise basic to intermediate language forms and make simple expressions
- Comprehend basic to intermediate spoken and written English
- Express/communicate in everyday situations
- Gain exposure to Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills
- Gain exposure to ‘learner skills’ to become independent and self-directed learners
Level 3-4
Level 3 and 4 focuses on English for Academic Purposes (EAP), which helps students:
- Recognize intermediate to advanced language forms and make accurate expressions
- Comprehend moderately spoken and written English in an academic context
- Express/communicate effectively in everyday situations
- Gain exposure to range of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills
- Gain exposure to ‘study skills’ which include notetaking, gathering and presenting information, critical thinking, planning and conducting research
Course Assessment
Formal assessment on use of English Language as well as reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the Certificate in General English and English for Academic Purposes by TMC Academy.
Age
Minimum 8 years old
English proficiency
An english placement test will be administered to determine a suitable level for students to enroll.
