TMC Academy Scores Double Win at JobsCentral Learning T.E.D. Awards 2018
It was a memorable night for TMC Academy at the JobsCentral Learning Training and Development (T.E.D.) Awards Dinner, as we clinched 2 awards – Best Private Education Institution for Hospitality and Tourism; and Gold Standard Private Education Institution for Social Sciences.
What is the award about?
The annual JobsCentral Learning T.E.D. Awards is specially designed to recognise all private education institutes (PEIs) and corporate training providers based in Singapore, for their outstanding performance in learning services delivered to students and clients. The overall judging is based on online voting by members of the public and a proposal assessment by an esteemed panel of judges consisting of individuals with the relevant knowledge and expertise in the industry. The nominated PEI is assessed on areas including organisation’s effectiveness and quality assurance.

Since its launch in 2015, students are given a platform to apply the theoretical knowledge learnt during the course of studies. There is a structured plan for preparing students for the interview and program itself, as well as monitoring students’ learning at the workplace.

During the first 2 weeks of training, I was sent to almost all the departments of the hotel. I’ve learnt a lot, including how to allocate rooms, how to use the hotel management system and effective communication with other departments. Mr Pinaki, my lecturer, gave me support when I was feeling frustrated and gave me advice to perform better at work.

I enjoyed the course flexibility. It was a short but intense one year programme. The course has exceeded in my expectations and I’m able to utilise the knowledge I gained to further my Masters studies in the UK. Lecturers are very helpful and even stayed after office hours to attend to our queries.
