Hello 2018 Student Orientation

Hola! It’s the first student orientation of the year at TMC Academy! We start off with much anticipation, as our new student club members planned and executed the day’s activities, with the help of our Student Services team.

A new year, a new start; with new students and new student club members. This is going to to be fun!

Here are the teams @ TMC Orientation Jan 2018

Here are the teams, let us welcome the Terminator, Megatron, Justice League & Avengers! (okay, we made that up. hehe)

An amazing race under the hot sweltering weather would be of little challenge to most of us, who are accustomed to the tropical climate in Singapore. Thanks to the sweater weather lately, we had some rain to bless us that morning! (such positivity!)

Our students were split up into groups and headed out to Dhoby Ghaut and Bugis area, a 10 minutes’ walk from our campus. Yes, TMC is located in central Singapore, where you can study, eat, shop, gym and simply hang out with friends (or alone), during class breaks. Back to the amazing race, students had to complete designated tasks at each station to retrieve the address to the final stop of the day – BBQ lunch at the principal’s house. They say there’s no free lunch in this world (haha)!

Every student orientation does not only serve the purpose of welcoming our new students, it also gives existing students a chance to hone their leadership and interpersonal skills through event organising and interaction with each other during the orientation. Such is the holistic education we strive to provide at TMC Academy.

Enough said, let’s view the photo highlights

Station: Bugis

Find 5 people who are from 5 different countries, and take selfie(s) with them. (p.s EVERY member of the crew should be in the photo with a different pose, including passers-by who were invited to join).

Station Master’s inner voice: “Shy to talk to a stranger? GOOD!”

Station: Dhoby Ghaut

Find three shops which names start with T, M, C, A, C, A, D, E, M, Y, and take group photos in front of the shop as evidence to complete the station.

Students’ inner voices: “Lucky it is early in the morning, else everyone will be looking!”

Station: Lorong Chuan MRT

The address of principal’s house is given, but it’s all jumbled up. The mission is to  piece those letters together to locate the address.

Everyone’s inner voice: “Dear Google Map, I love you.”

Thank you for everyone’s participation and welcome to TMC Academy, Singapore!
