ABSS Annual Dinner and the Asia Pacific Bartender of the Year Cocktail Competition
The 26th Asia Pacific Bartender of the Year Cocktail Competition, presented by the Singapore Hotel Association, was held at the annual dinner of the Association of Bartender and Sommelier Singapore (ABSS), at the Holiday Inn Atrium Hotel. As a close partner of ABSS, TMC Academy was invited to attend the event.
The dinner was supported by the Employment and Employability Institute Singapore (e2i), SHATEC, Workforce Singapore (WSG) and Holiday Inn Hotel. Representatives from the Food and Beverage Management Association (FBMA), Hospitality Alliances, Singapore Hotel Association and members of ABSS also attended the dinner. This meant plenty of networking opportunities, especially for our Higher Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management students, who also assisted with the planning and execution of the event as part of their TMC-ABSS Youth Wing commitments.
Participants of this year’s cocktail competition hail from many countries like Japan, Macao, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Italy, Sri Lanka and Singapore. The main competition was focused on bartending and flare tending. Our Singapore representative won first runner-up prize for the bartending competition.
The dinner concluded with a mini competition of fastest beer cap opening and a prize presentation ceremony.
