Facilities

TMC has a total of 56 rooms available with a breakdown as follows:

  • 39 classrooms
  • 8 computer labs
  • 9 discussion/study rooms

Click here for a detailed classroom capacity list.

Many of the classrooms and all the computer labs are equipped with mounted multimedia projectors. This has become essential as we have moved towards using PowerPoint presentation as one of the primary means of lesson delivery for proprietary courses. Portable multimedia projectors are also available for lecturers to loan out if the classroom has no mounted projector. There are also laptops available for lecturers to loan out for teaching.

In addition to the classrooms, the hospitality courses utilize mock-ups of a hotel room and a bar/restaurant offering students the opportunity to practice in realistic situations. The psychology counselling school also gives students an opportunity for real hands on practice with a room set aside for counselling purposes. When the room is not being used for counselling, it is utilized by students for practice. It is attached to another room by webcam so other students can observe the mock counselling session.

Hawthorn maintains an Independent Learning Centre where students are encouraged to practice their English independently or with the help of the lecturer in attendance. In addition, it is in the early stage of implementation of English language learning software for use in classes and independent study.
