Dr Chin Kon Yuen
Alumni Patron (Currently Executive Chairman of TMC Academy)
Dr. Chin Kon Yuen, one of the founders of the Company, has played a pivotal role in planning and charting the development of the Group since its inception in 1981. Presently serving as the Executive Chairman, he heads the board of directors. He is overall responsible for planning and charting the development, policies and strategies for business growth of the group as well as its top and bottom line.
Dr. Chin completed his tertiary education in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing, UK, and attained his tertiary qualification in Management Studies which was jointly awarded by the University of Chicago, US, and Singapore National Productivity Board. In 1994, he was conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Technology by Staffordshire University, UK, for his contribution in creating education opportunities for young people in Singapore to gain professional computing qualifications from Diploma level to Master Degree. Dr. Chin is currently the Second Vice President of Singapore Association for Private Education (SAPE), an association set up to represent private education institutions in Singapore.
Dr Tan Kow Wah
Dr Tan is a Trainer, Business owner and Management Lecturer, with more than 23 years of sales, corporate training and lecturing experience in the Asia Pacific Region. He is currently managing this own training and consultancy company AKW International Pte Ltd, a director for Pancake King International Pte Ltd which operate Food outlets in the F&B industry and director for Urban Front Enterprise (S) Pte Ltd which is a trading company. He is also a full member of the Singapore Institute of Management.
Dr Tan is a certified ACTA (Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment) trainer; he holds a Ph.D and Master in Business Administration from Preston University, United State of America. He graduated from TMC with a Higher Diploma in Computer Studies before getting his Bachelor of Computing Science (Hons) from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom He also obtains a LTTC Diploma in TESOL from London Teacher Training College and Certificate in Business Chinese Test from Chinese Language Council International from China.
Dr Tan also contributed a lot of his time to the community as an active grassroots leader. Currently, he is Assistance Secretary at Paya Lebar Kovan Community Club Management Committee and Paya Lebar Citizen Consultative Committee. He is also the President of the IT Interest Group of Singapore Institute of Management and Honorary Assistance Secretary at The Grassroots Club Management Committee. He was awarded Outstanding Individual Youth Awards by Singapore People Association Youth Movement in 1995 & 1997. In 2012, he was awarded 25 years Grand Award for community service by Singapore People Association.
Eileen Quek Cun Hwee
Eileen is a fresh graduate from the class of Business Management & Strategy in 2013 with the University of Gloucestershire. During her final year top-up degree, Eileen was TMC Academy’s Management Trainee Scholarship recipient and is currently working with TMC Academy.
Eileen is an enthusiastic individual who believes that every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day. Her optimism and confidence constantly drives her to reach and excel in life. Having been the President of the Student Correspondent Club under the Singapore Press Holdings Lianhe Zaobao division, Eileen has gained valuable leadership experience and exposure to manage and organize events. During her leisure time, she enjoys swimming, basketball and table tennis. Not forgetting, all day long karaoke sessions!
As the pioneer alumni committee, Eileen aims to unite the TMC Alumni family to grow bigger and stronger in the years to come. She wants to develop platforms for TMC alumni members to form interest groups whereby long-lasting friendships can be forged.
Citra Anggreny Darmawan
Vice-President cum Secretary
Citra graduated from Monash College Diploma of Business program in 2006. Having experienced an exciting student life during her study in TMC, she joined the TMC family after completing her degree in NUS.
During her school years she was actively involved in outside-classroom activities that allowed her to grow as a person. She learnt event management from various schools’ events, practiced discipline from her dance lessons, and grasped networking skill from liaising with people of various backgrounds. She has a deep love for culture and has always been fascinated by the different cultures in the Singapore community. During her leisure time she likes to explore Singapore’s cultural heritage places and treat herself to local delicacies.
She hopes TMC Alumni will grow to become a networking platform for alumni to connect together, lined up with events and activities for alumnus to share their passion and hobbies.
Phan Hoang Yen
Alumni Relations Director
Hoang Yen holds an Administration Degree from Hochiminh University Foreign Language and Information Technology (HUFLIT University – graduation year 2007) in Vietnam and Degree (Hons) Hospitality & Tourism Management awarded by the University of Hertfordshire at TMC Academy in 2011.
Currently working in TMC, Hoang Yen is the point of liaison between overseas agents, local sales staffs, students and their parents for new student applications for admission into TMC academy. Besides ensuring that these important documents are complete and received on time, she deals directly with the Immigrations Checkpoint Authority of Singapore (ICA) to process student pass applications, organize medical check-ups and appointments. Through these, Hoang Yen has learnt the importance of high efficiency performance and close coordination with various parties.
Hoang Yen’s free time revolves around her greatest interest: Culinary. She watches cooking show, reads cooking books and recipes. Most importantly, she loves to cook and aspires to become a food blogger someday.
As the Alumni Relations Director, Hoang Yen hopes that the TMC alumni family will grow bigger, and that TMC Alumni will help to re-connect all TMC graduated students from all over the world.
