Counselling & Advice

To provide wholesome student services to students, TMC has a range of counselling services available to address student needs at each stage of their progression through TMC.

We provide comprehensive counseling services to all our students, namely:

Pre-Course Counselling

Pre-course counselling refers to the information that students should be briefed on and provided with pertaining to their intended course application to TMC. The information includes program information, academic pathway, award and fee information, refund, withdrawal and transfer policies, Immigration rules and Singapore laws especially for International students and the student services available for students in TMC, for example the airport pickup and accommodation placement services.

This information is provided to all students (prior to their application of the studies) by Student Recruitment & Marketing (SRM) colleagues as well as TMC appointed International Student Recruitment Agents.

Counselling on Poor Attendance

Course administrators and the Academics work closely to counsel students with poor attendance rate. Every month Warning Letters are generated and sent to students who do not meet the minimum attendance requirements. The Course Administrators will meet them one-to-one for counselling and to identify the symptoms of stress or abnormalities in the students. The Academics will be roped in to help if students’ poor attendance was due to difficulties of coping in their studies. The academics will monitor them. Should the problem persist or the student is still not doing well, the case will be referred to the School Counsellors.

Mentor-Mentee Session

A Mentor-Mentee session (MMS) is conducted at the beginning of the semester, and another MMS is conducted at the end of every semester for every class. All students are required to attend these sessions. The Academic HOD/Designate obtains feedback from students and provides advice on academic issues, attendance/punctuality, referencing (as appropriate) and rules/regulations to students during these sessions.

The above services are available to current students only.

TMC provides free, professional and confidential psychological counseling services. Qualified and experienced student counselors are available to guide students to solutions for pressing concerns and personal difficulties.

All counseling sessions will be done in the TMC Counseling Room.

In some cases, the school counselors may refer students to professional counseling services provided by government bodies, professional associations or registered non-government organisations.
