Awarded by: University of Greenwich The BA (Hons) Business Studies aims to provide students with careers in business and management. The programme offers strong commercial orientation and international context in business areas such as strategy, international business, marketing and human resources. The degree aims to ensure that students have the confidence and competence to make business judgements based on knowledge and understanding. By equiping students with broader cognitive, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, it seeks to enhance students' employability in business and provide the foundation for lifelong learning. In addition, it also develop students' ability to analyse and research subject matters both familiar and unfamiliar to them in order to make balanced, critical and constructive judgements as to the views and opinions expressed by others. The degree takes an in-depth approach and consists of a total of 4 modules: Managing Strategy The course will develop critical analytical skills relevant to strategic management and introduces students to analytical tools in the management of strategy in organisations. In addition, the use of game simulation exercise seeks to facilitate students’ learning processes. Assessment: 50% Exam/50% Coursework International Business Managment The aim of the module provides an exposure to students into the major environmental factors, international trade theory, globalisation amongst other areas that an international enterprises face. In addition, these would have implications on HR, accounting, finance and various functions of an international enterprises. Assessment: 50% Exam/50% Coursework Small Business Development The focus is on small business development - initiation, growth, challengers and termination of new ventures. The course is designed to give students an understanding of the current academic and pragmatic approaches to small business, enterprise and entrepreneurship. Assessment: 50% Exam/50% Coursework Thematic Independent Studies The TIS allows students the opportunity to undertake a major project of self-study through investigation and critical evaluation of a chosen topic with academic focus and knowledge. Structure
Delivery
This programme is wholly delivered in Singapore. Students will have access to local lecturers and the on-line resources provided by TMC.
There will be a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, presentations and sessions in computer laboratories where appropriate. Students will also be given additional work to complete outside of scheduled classes.
Resources and materials provided for students will include lecture notes and references for further reading in books, professional journals, publication, articles and websites.
Assessment
Modules are assessed by means of examination and /or coursework.
