Master of Laws (LLM)
- University of London
Course Introduction

This Masters is provided through the University of London External System.  The University of London (UOL) has a worldwide reputation for excellence in legal education.  The Postgraduate Laws programme is offered in partnership with the Colleges of the University, and is jointly managed by Queen Mary and University College London (UCL).  Both Queen Mary and UCL have ‘5 Star’ rated Departments of Law, the highest possible rating in the United Kingdom.

The great benefit of the Postgraduate Laws programme is its flexible structure. This offers students a wide range of courses (60 planned, 40 currently on offer) to choose from and three different awards to aim for.  It is possible to start by enrolling for the Postgraduate Certificate, then progress to the Postgraduate Diploma and finally to the Masters of Laws (LLM).

Students can also choose to specialise in a particular field of law, with the specialisation being named on your certificate.  Specialisations are currently available in 30 different areas, including Banking and Finance Law, Commercial and Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Maritime Law.

One other key aspect of the Postgradaue Laws programme is that it has very flexible entry requirements and is open to non-law graduates.

The Postgraduate Laws programme is studied in distance learning format, with the University supplying extensive study materials.  These include:  Skills Guide, Textbooks, Study Guides, Handbook, Regulations and access to UOL eCampus.  eCampus has an extensive online library, five legal databases, including Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw, and discussion forums.  To view the online resources please visit www.external.shl.lon.ac.uk

TMC provide support and guidance in choosing courses, sections and sepecialisations, discussion rooms and other study facilities.
